Every year, Bitef Polyphony, within its programme segment “Polyphony in Duration”, opens up the space for new initiatives which are to be realized over the year as projects of “Exchange for Changes”, and presented at next year’s Polyphony. One of the new initiatives of the kind is a work in progress performance based on the well-known Woody Allen’s text “A Brief, Yet Helpful, Guide to Civil Disobedience”. This highly unusual Allen’s guide was created in the context of student demonstrations in 1968, the hippie movement, and humane struggle against various social injustices. The guide is ironic but also naïve in comparison with the times we live in. This is the beginning of the process, a performance in the making, in the form of an interactive theatre game with a follow-up discussion. Audience opinions will be included in the final version.
Slobodan Beštić was a participant at the first Bitef Polyphony in 2000, one of the coordinators in the project “Art for Social Changes - Play against Violence”, and a coordinator of “Exchanges for Changes” workshops which instigated numerous gatherings, new initiatives, and actions.
Support and sponsors are expected.
