DOROTHY CHANSKY is Professor of Theatre at Texas Tech University. She is the author of Composing Ourselves: The Little Theatre Movement and the American Audience (2004) and Kitchen Sink Realisms: Domestic Labor, Dining, and Drama in American Theatre (2015). She is immediate past President of the American Theatre and Drama Society and soon to start her term as Vice President for Publications of the American Society for Theatre Research. Her articles have appeared in Theatre Journal, TDR, Theatre SurveyTheatre History StudiesText and Performance QuarterlyThe Journal of American Drama and Theatre, and The Journal of Adaptation in Film and Performance, among others. She was editor of Theatre Annual for six years and book review editor of Theatre Journal for three. Dr. Chansky began her career as an actress. She has written and produced two original plays off-off-Broadway. She writes criticism for New York Theatre Wire (nytheatre-wire.com), for which she reviewed Bitef 52 (2018).  While visiting this year's Bitef, prof Chansky will deliver a public lecture on the history of American theatre.
